URGENT: nominations for DAUK elections

URGENT – DEADLINE THIS WEEK

Greetings fellow Obama supporters. The purpose of this email is to remind you that the UK Chapter of Democrats Abroad (DAUK) will hold its biennial officer elections in March.
If (like me) you are a member of DAUK I want to ask you to consider whether or not you are interested in assisting the organisation in an elected or non-elected capacity. Bill Barnard, the Chair of DAUK, recently sent you a comprehensive email explaining the various roles that are available together with various forms. I will not repeat the whole of his email here, but suffice to say that this all-volunteer organisation requires a lot of help (both elected and un-elected) to work efficiently. Bill also advised you that I have been asked to serve on the 4 person Nominating Committee for this election cycle. (My fellow committee members are Ellen McCoy, Chair; David Gallagher; and Margo Miller.)
So here is yet another opportunity for you to continue the spirit of the Obama campaign right here in the UK. If you were active in the campaign and feel that you might be a good “fit” for the various roles that Bill described in his email, then please email the relevant application materials with your expression of interest to the DAUK 2009 Nominating Committee at:

Regrettably time is short. Expressions of interest are meant to be received THIS WEEK. I hope that some of you who were active in the Obama campaign will consider dedicating some of your time and energy to this organisation.
ABOUT DAUK
Many of you are already members of Democrats Abroad (DA), which is the official arm of the Democratic Party of the United States serving US citizens living outside the US. The UK Chapter of Democrats Abroad (DAUK) is one of the largest chapters in the world and its membership has grown tremendously in the past 2 years. One of the reasons for the membership growth, not surprisingly, is the excitement sparked by the 2008 US Presidential Election.
Some of you who were active during the campaign may have had only limited exposure to DAUK, although DA and the UK Chapter were instrumental in organising and sponsoring many activities that helped during the election. Examples include “debate watch” events to screen the various US Presidential Debates, voter registration training and coordination, database development, and of course the website that we all used as our main information source for voter registration (votefromabroad.org). All of this work by DA and DAUK helped to pave the way for our campaign activities this work continues for all upcoming US Federal Elections.
If you are a US Citizen living in the UK and have not done so already, I urge you to consider becoming a member of DAUK. Details available at:
