Subject: Auckland meetup - guest speaker - Igor Portugal from Vadacom
Hi,

The Auckland Python meetup is in a couple of days (Wednesday 18th July,
6:30pm http://www.meetup.com/nz-python-user-group/events/61730772/). Our
guest speaker is a businessman who uses Python in the core of his
product. Igor is an interesting speaker and there will be plenty of time
for questions. Here is the blurb:

> Vadacom is one of the few places in New Zealand using Python for
> product development.

> This presentation is the story of Vadacom, from the first installation
> using open source Asterisk PBX, to where Vadacom is today. Igor will
> talk about the product history, the open source tools used and the
> reasons they were chosen.

> Igor is a software developer turned businessman. Eighteen years
> experience in New Zealand's IT industry. In 1999 Igor co-founded
> Asterisk, New Zealand's first Linux specialist practice that was later
> sold to Gen-i. In 2005 Igor co-founded Vadacom. Igor was one of the
> founding members of the New Zealand Open Source society and one of the
> first advocates of the use of Open Source technology by New Zealand
> businesses.

All the best,

Grant Paton-Simpson (standing in temporarily for Stuart Mitchell)

Thanks Grant,

I'd like to also mention that the very first NZPUG meetings were held
at Vadacom's premises (back then) on K'Road.

Cheers,
Danny

Regrettably, I shall be in Wellington on Wednesday and so will miss this talk which I would very much like to hear. Any chance of making an audio recording of the presentation to go with the accompanying slides?

If i were in Auckland, this would be a must-not-miss event.
Igor's product is a shining example of uber-smart product development
from start to finish, and would be worth seeing for everyone -
especially those in prod dev, but from a pure python technology point of
view its awesome too.

Wish I could be there.

Regards,

D.

I too would like to see this talk but will be unable to be there.

Any chance that someone with a camera equipped laptop[*] could start a Google
hangout (or similar) and point the camera (and mic) at the speaker?
