Update on Progress of the Development of the NZ cloud Code of Practice

Hi All

Time for an update!

Submissions on the draft structure and approach document closed on the 1st of February, and since then I have been busy going through those submissions and analysing the feedback.  There were 17 formal submissions made on the draft document, and most of those were very detailed and provided some great challenges and perspective on many points in the draft document– which is fantastic!!

While the analysis of the submissions is no where near finished, we are already moving on with the development of the code by way of specialist workgroups that include individuals who have put their hands up as specialist in many of the disclosure areas – the participation of these individuals is greatly appreciated, as is the time they are taking out of their busy days!!

There are still some places available on some of the groups, so if you would like to be involved in the development of the content of the code, drop me an email!

Because we extended the final submission date on the draft structure and approach document, and due to some technology challenges, we have had to revisit the timeline for the development of the code.  The new deliverable dates, which I am confident can be met, have been pushed out by a couple of weeks and are as follows.

• 16/02/2012-02/03/2012: Series of 15 workgroups focusing on specific aspects of the Code, made up of groups of experts with expertise in specific areas
• 14/03/2012-02/04/2012: Formal submissions called on draft Code of Practice for Cloud Computing
• 16/04/2012: Release of Code of Practice for Cloud Computing in New Zealand.

The next few weeks are going to be an extremely busy time for all those involved in this final stage of development of the code and I am looking forward to some energetic and productive meetings with the workgroups over the next 2 weeks!
