We have decommissioned our local news service due to decreased use (less
than 40 users).

Faced with new expenditures to keep the hardware operable and the very small
population being served, we determined that it didn't make financial sense
to continue offering the service.

If you would like to use a newsgroup service, you can find free services
online such as Google Groups (http://groups.google.com/).
