Sorry for the cross post, but I am sure those of you who are as sick of these Boy Racer Nerds as I am, will be glad to see a new website with the specific intention of helping us rid our roads of these Mummy's Boys.
Still very early days yet, and a ton of work to do, but USE it people! Email in those Regos, place and time details, lets help the Police be one step ahead, and shame these fools (and their parents) so they just give it up.

I think the term 'boy racer' is being used alot. Everyone assumes a young person (such as myself) to have a vehicle to be a 'boy racer'.
I see myself as a car enthusiest. When something breaks, rather than taking it to an expensive mechanic, I fix it myself, and learn something while doing so. However I don't think this will be a career option for me, but rather just a hobby.
Not everyone with a modified car is a 'boy racer'. There is a large number of car enthusiests who get annoyed when they get labelled with the 'boy racer' stereotype. You'll notice that most of them don't race, and if they do, they race on a legal drag strip, or a race curcuit. Most of them are members of reknown motorsport clubs.
I realise there are alot of hoons out there, especially in auckland and wellington. It's those idiots giving most the other people a bad name. Where does the boy racer stereotype stop? A few weeks ago there was a Mitsubishi GTO smashed up on Te Irangi (sp?) drive, the driver a 35 year old man. The herald labelled him as a 'boy racer'.
Also, what's with your use of the word 'nerd'? I thought nerds were pale geeky people really into their computers/electronics. There is very little chance they would be associating with 'boy racers'.
I think it's nice you are trying to stop this illegal activity. I agree it needs to be stopped. However making up a website like yours isn't going to help. Also blaming their parents isn't going to help either. As if parents have full control over their children at the age of 18. Most of them have moved out by then.

You ever looked at many of these guys? I would say at least 60% of them are skinny short little runts with about 1kg of gel in their hair. Years ago they used to hang around the computer rooms at school. Now, as if in a pathetic atempt to get girls, they drive around in a modified version of Granny's car - and seem to think they are no longer nerds because of this.

I don't. It's the young smart-arses who have mini-races along public streets and do their best to deafen everyone within several blocks with their stereos and poxy taste in music, they are automatically suspect of boy-racerhood. Young men in cars are just young men in cars unless they act like jerks with a brand new willie.
Fixing your own car and finding out how it works are admirable pursuits IMO. Just, when you've got it going, don't test them by driving like an idiot around town and I for one won't call you boy racers. Maybe you need a special definition to distinguish yourselves from boy racers - something that emphasises your more responsible aspect of interest in cars. Spannermen or something.

LOL.
Have to be honest Fuel.
I have three cars, one a company car.
Two are Japanese (one an import - was thinking the other one was too, but it is NZ assembled). The company car is a Hyundai.
Shivers, I sometimes put gel in my hair too!
:-0
Oh well.
Anyways - you will find that I will NOT be posting rego. numbers on the site, mainly due to several 'Boy Racers' already crying and sending me threatening emails about "close the site down Or we'll get ya".

That was along Te Rakau Drive and what a bloody mess he made over a large area. The 'boy racers' claimed not to have known the guy and rumours circulate that he could have been trying to sell drugs to 'boy racers'.
Nelly. If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours :-)

I'm 45 and drive a Prelude VTec manual with mags and all the bells and whistles. I have had it for 18 Months and have yet to get a ticket driving it. Both the wife and I prefer to go on trips in it rather than her Primera. Am I a boy racer also ?. I also ride a 1978 Triumph Bonneville 750 and get called a bikey. I prefer the names car and motorcycle enthusiast.
While I disagree with Boy racers and what they do and the threat they pose to innocent people I think you are misguided in the way you are going about things.

Wow Corky. You couldn't have hit the nail more squarly on the head there.
I myself have a '89 Galant. It's NZ-assembled and NZ-new. Has mags and bells and whistles, but I don't think it goes fast. I don't need it to go fast really. It's a good comfortable cruising car for open road driving.

Read my definitions of a Boy Racer on the site Corky.
Hi Trev Congratulations, this is what we have needed for a long time. I have a problem with these Losers and will post the info on the site. I cannot find the link to do the post, tell me how to do this. Cheers Andre Rotorua.

No. 'Boy racer' is only partly about the car. The biggest part is the cretinous behaviour of a growing element of young guys in hotted up cars...
I'm 33 and also have a VTEC 5spd Prelude. Its a nice car. Its completely factory (no mods at all), and has a basic CD stereo with no subs. Plenty of boy racers have these cars too, but the difference is mine will last since I drive it respectfully...

You must have markedly different "Boy Racers" in your area than in mine.

A little experiment: read your above answer, then find what you were answering, below. Now imagine how inconvenient that is for reader who didn't compose your post.

Thats not that funny, and the "Boy Racers" down south are a lot more placid than up north.

heh, not down here, most of them are 25-35, and have a fairly high income... me, I seem to get classed with them because Im young(24) and I like to drive(not quick, not dangerous, just drive).
Also, most of them seem to be NZ-new cars, so not imports, and I would hardly call japanese cars crap.
