perfection the style and substance of what came back at him.
As an example of the general tone Key brought to the broadcast, and
for a revealing study of an inept New Zealand prime minister regaling
his worldwide audience by gratuitously disavowing one of his own

I saw the section of him defending the "100% pure" bit. Given this is
very much a Labour gambit over the last 25 years he was forced to defend
it, and did it OK whilst introducing the concept of "comparatively"..
something IIRC Helen wasn't prepared to concede. In this he followed
some tourism research that overseas visitors aren't that interested in
100% pure so much as it aligns with what they see and perceive of NZ.

The problem is though, that Goff, Norman, Sharples, Dunne,
Harawira would be 100 times worse.
Of course Brash would have been the only party leader presently
able to handle those questions. He has no issues facing up to
facts.

In saying 'suggests' I have perhaps been generous since the slogan
actually states "100% Pure" as fact. Sackur took this up with New
Zealand's Minister of Tourism, detailing scenarios and numbers for Key
to speak to. But Key sidestepped and responded by dissing the work of
one of his own country's top scientists. Sackur left it at that,
leaving John Key looking awkward while allowing the audience to arrive
at its own conclusions.
