Sounds like a lot, doesn't it? How many pollies are there under the
existing system over the same area?
I think the interesting comparison was, there are only 120 politicians
for the New Zealand parliament, and look how people complain.
It is an interesting comparison, but not the most important one.
That's an opinion.
An an interesting opinion too, but not the most important one.
Well, that 146 figure includes all the board representives and
suchlike.
At present, Auckland City has, by my count, 19 councillors[1], and
Avondale board has five additional board members[2], as does Eastern
Bays[3], EdenAlbert[4], Great Barrier[5], Maungakiekie[7], Mt Roskill
[8], Tamaki[9], Waiheke[10] and Western Bays[11]
Hobson has six[6]
So that is 70-odd just for Auckland City. God knows how many the
Westies have, North Shore, Rodney, the ghetto, or out Pukekekohe way
It is probably worth recalling that when this idea was mooted, the
fothing lefties moaned that it would be a reduction in
representation. Now they are implying 146 is too high compared to 120
MPs. But they are lefties: they'd moan about anything that was not
draped in a red flag.

Right-o, so we can expect a reduction in the pollie count then.
Excellent.
I wonder why the lefties in this thread are wriggling around that
point like a worm on a hook?
Well, they went stunningly quiet over the weekend!
The point is surely that 146 pollies is a *reduction* of over 100
from what exists now in Auckland.
JC
I'll remember this part of the thread if *ever* these lads complain that
120 politicians in parliament is too many.
Thanks for proving my point guys.
Why would you connect the two? No one here has said that the number
proposed for the super city is too little, too many or just right -
only that it is an improvement (less) than the current number.
Your own conclusions are as faulty as ever.
First paragraph of the article linked to in the OP
"Auckland will be ruled by 146 politicians - more than there currently
are in Parliament - under the new Supercity structure, it was revealed
today. "
Yes. And apparently 100 less than the current system. Excellent. Feel
free to bring up this news often.
Whenever you complain about the numbers in Parliament I will, as I said.
You seem to think I or someone else thinks this 146 number you keep
bringing up is significant in itself? Or that I or someone else think
it's acceptable? If so, then as I said before you are mistaken. All I
am saying is that 146 is an improvement on 246. But feel free to bleat
away if it makes you feel better in your ignorance.
His bleating ignores the reality... 100 *FEWER* pooticians
running Auckland.
I wonder if you ever read what's said Johno, I really do.
I'm sure you wonder about most things as they confront you in what
must be a very challenging life.
We can't all lead simple lives like you Johno.
Yes... he seems to always over-complicate everything. But he
really does that to just be argumentative. He has nothing
productive to do with his life and time, that's obvious.
Some of us have that knack of making complex things things simple.
Sadly, to others even the simple seems difficult.
Yes, that is what I am paid for.
> Sadly, to others even the simple seems difficult.
I have noticed that you suffer from that problem, on more than one
occasion. I'm pleased to see you finally admit it.
Sucks to be your clients - if there are any still in business.
Small mind you possess.
Can't even get the spelling right in either post - an error on top of
an error. And you presume to point out other posters' errors?
LOL. What a moron.
Yes.
