I periodically receive an unsolicited set of Christmas cards from the
Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Ltd., Unit 1, 5 Cunard Rd, New Lynn,
Auckland 7.
I believe that the idea of using pictures from people who have lost
the use of their hands is a good one. The quality of the art work
seems good and the cards are well made. Furthermore there is no
good reason why a person who has lost the use of their hands should
not produce art that is the equal of any able bodied person. If they
can make a living or at least supplement their income by this method
good on them.
However, how much of the money spent on these cards actually gets back
to the artists themselves? And how much is absorbed by the marketing
company promoting these cards? Can anyone enlighten me? SNOOPY

Good question, I also receive these ( and send them back ), I have no Idea
where they got my name, or how genuine they are.

I used to get these. Binned them (I wouldn't use them without
recompensing the authors, valid or not) and failed to get any more
after three years.

I fully support disabled individuals in their endeavours, but I resent
receiving unsolicited mail, from any source, asking for money. I also
routinely trash spam e-mail. Same thing.

No, its an error.

UNIX came out of Bell Labs. Only the Berkley shell came out of
Berkley. That's not to denigrate the contributions Berkely have made
to UNIX.

There are two classes of people. Those who divide people into
two classes, and those who don't. I belong to the second class.

There was a lot more than the Berkley shell that came from Berkley. For
example Bill Joy wrote vi there. Many would say that UNIX 4.1 BSD
(Berkeley Software Distribution) was the first commercially usefull
UNIX. There are even a few Deviants who believe that BSD is the ONLY
true UNIX ;-)

All true.

But UNIX still came out of Bell Labs, if you C what I mean. Berkeley
is welcome to Vi for second place. I can't take these puns any
Pfauger. Mind you, you are welcome to try, if you Kernighan.
