Ok, so the AG report has found that Shane Jones was not proven corrupt in the shabby Bill Liu affair - just incompetent.

And it turns out being incompetent gets you promoted in the Labour caucus.

Labour - a bit shit.

All credit to him for being open about the mistakes he made - quite a
contrast with "Double Dipton" or Parata or McCully. The response by
Shearer was also shown to be good - he stood Jones down until the
investigation was completed; on National's side no-one lost their job
over Novopay, Solid Energy, unemployment, the Foreign Affairs disaster
. . .

watching porn was not the subject of the investigation. Key has never
apologised for his lies . . .

He was told by the public service that the applicant would be killed
if returned to his former country - and I understood he had never been
convicted of any crime.

Then Mr Liu would be well advised to not return to his former country. This has no relevance whatsoever to granting citizenship. Mr Liu already had permanent residence.

Which doesn't quite have the same stench around it of a minister hastily granting citizenship to a political donor and friend, all against his own department's advice.
