Cancel the Rugby World Cup

Those who tell us that ALL new Zealanders support our money being
wasted on the Rugby World Cup should check out the result of this
poll
I am encouraged that this poll shows most have outgrown a childish
fixation on the "Muddied Oafs"

A representative view of all kiwi opinion a poll on
stuff.co.nz does not make. If you think that the typical
rugby fan spends his/her day answering polls online then you
are sadly mistaken.
Secondly, there is a lot of money being spent, some of it
will only benefit RNZ and fans of Rugby, but don't forget
the money being spent on infrastructure that otherwise would
never have been spent that will affect a vast number of
people over time. Retailers WILL benefit as a number of my
restaurant owner friends can testify to, not to mention
tourism spend and a general boost in numbers to NZ even
after the cup is won by another country :)
