I use Nero, but I've seen a number of free apps that will create an ISO image of a CD or DVD, then you can burn as many copies as you want.

Try using ImgBurn (freeware) if Vista will not copy it:

I've seen the same thing with HP laptops. Their applications gives you the choice of burning one copy of a restore disc, after which it won't allow you to make any more, or to make a disc image so you can use whatever software you like to make as many copies as you like.

All the one's I've done lately have made all sorts of 'one copy only' noises, but at the end of the day let me burn two or more copies. (It's amazing how many HP/Compaq's I see that the owner haven't created the restore disks.) What ever happens you can allways copy the DVD with Nero et all once you've burnt one. I usually burn to different brands to cover quality variations.
Best Paul.
Best Paul.

Yep, HP, didnt let me do a second...

Did wonder....was hoping so. Pesky "protection" is annoying...

Sounds like a plan, I only have imation brand at the moment, but one or a 5 pack of something is no biggee...considering the media would have cost them all of $0.50, its really annoying.
I also have shadowprotect at work so might just do a "ghost" that way...

What's REALLY annoying is that they don't give you the proper original CDs / DVDs with the computer!!

Personally I would image the HD partitions and take a copy of the MBR before using it. Various Linux boot CD's, sticks etc will do this independently of the installed operating system.

"I only have imation brand at the moment" Don't use them for that job, 'not' good enough, in fact the Warehouse Transonics are far more reliable than Imation in my experience.
"cost them all of $0.50, its really annoying." Burns my boat too.
