First Ice Race

This in from CNYIRA:

 

January 16 is the date for the first CNYIRA Ice Race of the 2010 season.

 

We have two separate options for that date.

 

Option 1. If there is enough ice on one of our lakes, we will be ice racing on that lake.

 

Option 2. If there isn’t enough ice on a lake, we will indeed be Ice Racing on the world famous Frozen Dirt Road Course at Black Rock Speedway.

There is no way to know how the weather will shape up between now and then, but either way you should save the date to be Ice Racing on one surface or another.

 

Black Rock Speedway will provide us with a very smooth surface to race on and Terrie Sautter (winner of last year’s chili cook-off) will be providing the food. Of course if it’s warm and muddy, we will have to cancel.

 

Registration will start at 8:30

Short Practice (depending on track conditions) will start at 9:00

Racing by 10:000

Lunch when we feel like it, or when Terrie is ready.

We will end the event when conditions are not suitable  such as not enough light, people or cars are tired out, track wears out etc..

Last year's event was the best yet. Take a look at the sideways action in the pics on page 9 of that thread. As I said at the meeting last month, I was very impressed with the quality of the drivers and how close and clean everyone raced together.

I am under the opinion that this should be a points event even if we race at black rock. This will get everyone out in force and will be a great start of the season.  I am looking forward to this event and hope to see you all there. Thanks Kurt.
