Hi everyone, I'm looking for suggestions for small-run PCB manufacturers.  I am aware of Seeed Studio's Propagate service, but can't find any info on their turnaround times, so I'm curious if anyone has any experience w/ them.  I'm also open to other suggestions.

I'm looking to do a run of 200 small (5cm x 10cm) boards, with less than 20 components.  Lack of man-power and time makes it unreasonable for me to just have the PCBs made and me solder all the parts on, so I'm hoping to get them fully populated and soldered as well.

The other part of my equation is time -- I need to deliver for the end of May.

Any comments/suggestions greatly appreciated!

I'm located in Ottawa, Canada, but am geographically open to the manufacturer's location.

Many thanks,

Andrew O'Malley

OSH Park is great for small boards. Here on the US east coast, I typically get my boards back in 10 to 14 days.

With Seeed Studio, it usually takes 2 to 3 weeks with regular shipping, and 7 to 10 days with UPS.

Another relatively new option is smart-prototyping.com - they're cheap and they also do stainless steel stencils in a frame for $24 (!). I've just received my first boards and stencil from them last night and they look great. They can also do assembly and parts sourcing for you with some of the lowest startup costs I've seen, but I haven't tried that service yet.

Hi Raphael, All,

Thanks for asking! Our niche is small runs (20 - 500 units) and have two services:
1. Full manufacturing. Order the parts, build the boards, test and program them. Up to and including shipping them out direct to your customers.
2. We'll take your boards and parts and assemble the boards. We can do all the assembly, or just the SMD part.

There are various nuances of each of those options.

I would say our competitive advantage is:
- Price competitive.
- We will overnight the first article to you. This means you get to review and test your design before all the units are made AND without paying a line restart fee.
- If we order the parts, we have some nifty software to make sure that parts are obtained from the cheapest reliable source.
- Made in USA (in NY).
- If needed, we can give you engineering help.

We are also makers and committed to open source. Our latest project is the Air Quality Egg, which is 100% open source. We are based in Ithaca NY - I recently heard this called "rural-sourcing".

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Cheers
Dirk

This sounds great! Do you have a website to link to?

For future reference, there's nothing wrong with popping in a little
plug for your business, if it's relevant to the discussion. This is
certainly a good example!
