Good Morning All,

I am wondering if anyone has tips for mounting large (~3" diameter) and heavy motors.  I'm replacing an AC motor in an appliance with one that has a slightly larger body.  The old one was mounted with two metal brackets that screw into the backing and clasp around rubber disks on either end of the motor.  As the new motor isn't made to attach the disks, I've considered just epoxying them onto either end and drilling new holes in the brackets or backing to account for the difference in size.  However, I'm concerned about not having a mechanical connection given the weight.  Any ideas that don't involve machining my own parts?

Thanks,
Zach

That's exactly what I was thinking, but I couldn't remember what those
things were called. I am concerned that, given the weight (5 lbs
would be my very rough guess), they might cause it to droop a little
rather than staying in place against the backing- which is necessary
for the shaft to hit the belts in the right place.

> I would try a metal hanger strap. You can wrap it around the motor and use a bolt to tighten the loop. The rest of the strap could be bent to form a L-shaped bracket for mounting.

You could also form a U-shaped bend with a bolt in the middle to tighten
the circular mount. then the remaining portion could be used to form
two separate mounts.
