Greetings all, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Intro to
Radio and Antenna class will have a replay on November 28th and 29th.
This will be a 2 hour class that will cover the fundamental principals
behind radio waves and cover some common antenna designs. We will also
showcase Ham Radio technologies, and some Wifi (and other 2.4Ghz)
stuff.

There will be a lot to cover, so if you have any specific interest
weather it be radio scanners, ham radio, wifi/2.4Ghz related, or your
own project you need some help with, let us know, or just bring it in.

Some of the gizmos we will have in class are to help demonstrate and
explain topics are:

Multiple Radio Scanners
Multiple Ham Radios
Wispy Spectrum Analyzer
Homebrew Antennas
Modded wifi cards and bluetooth sticks
Modded FRS Radios
Laptop running Simulation Software
Homebrew radio abominations unto the electron gods

Some of the topics we will touch on are:

Principals of Electromagnets and Magnetic Waves
Basic concepts of Inductance
Electromagnetic Waves, what they are, and how they work
Grasping the concept and measurement of wavelength
Standing Wave Ratio, and why it can suck
Modulation, Modulation, Modulation. Explaining carrier and modulation
types (benefits and drawbacks)
Ham radio stuffs
2.4Ghz Stuffs (Wifi, Bluetooth, Video, and WiSpy)
Band Plans and Profiling, knowing where you are in the wireless wilderness
Explanation of different antenna types
Understanding the Dipole Antenna (and propagation patterns)
Understanding the J-Pole
Understanding the Yagi
Understanding the biquad

Check the NYC Resistor Calendar and RSVP if you are interested. As
always if you have any questions, comments, or queries about this
class, or any suggestions, feel free to comment.

Cheers, Beers, and Bunny Ears,
Foxx
