Hey all,

The workshop/hack day for node.js is still in the process of
materializing. I just thought I'd let you all know that I haven't
stopped working on making this happen. Right now the big issue is
finding a sizable venue [0] that is free, doesn't require RSVPs, and
will be open on a Saturday. I was shooting for the 31st and it might
still happen but it's close so we'll see. I might have to push it out
yet again though. I'll keep everyone up to date as we figure these
things out. If all else fails, I'll at least get the workshop
materials out to people so they can be used independently. :-)

Also, I'm still keeping my eyes open for a good featured topic in next
months meeting. Let me know
if any of you have something javascript-related on your mind. I'm
pretty open to what sorts of topics you'd all like to hear more on.

Brian.

[0] I'm thinking 30+ would be appropriate given the demand I've seen
though it could be more or less now that it's such short notice but
still in high demand.

Hey. I'd be down for giving a short presentation on js test driver
(unittesting javascript).

Depending how long you want me to speak, I can do:

overview + small example (lightning talk)
how to set it up w/ hudson (15-20 min)
some general principals of unittesting (20-30)

The times are mostly guesses as I haven't really planned at talk at
all. Anyway, if you're looking for a speaker in some capacity, I'm
down as long as there are no schedule conflicts.

We'd love to host this at Alpha One Labs. Some of us will be at
Defcon that weekend. I put the word out on our list. If someone is
around you can use the space.

We also have an iPhone / iPad meetup coming up that some of you may be
interested in http://www.meetup.com/The-Brooklyn-iPhone-and-iPad-Developer-Meetup/calendar/14120298/

I'll be around, so you guys can totally count on Alpha One Labs. Feel
free to talk to me or Psytek off list to work out the details.

Hey All,

Baring any scheduling issue, I would be willing to do a quick rundown
on riak-js, http://riakjs.org, which is a nodejs implementation of
riak's (http://wiki.basho.com/display/RIAK/Riak) http access pattern.
Not sure of the format but maybe a 5-10 minute quickie.

Godaddy just parked your domain because it expired.

Sorry to do this on nyc.js but I am not sure if Godaddy keeps MX records intact when a domain expires.

Thanks for the heads up.  We renewed it and the records seem intact.  Wondering how long it takes to propagate.

No exact plans yet but I can probably lead right into it time-wise. My
guess [0] is that the main part of this workshop will take around 3
hours with some hacking during and after. I'm happy to work together
on the scheduling. I might also be able to help on the venue question
if you are still looking. I plan on trying to publish a more complete
description of the schedule and content tomorrow so people can push it
around to their own groups. I'll include a mention of your event as
well.

Brian.

[0] I'm still putting the materials for the workshop together so some
of this is going to be give or take. I think most of this will end up
as a wait and see how it goes thing.
