Also, what ever happened to the R-142's that were being run on #3 line
last year? When are they scheduled to appear for real, and on which lines?
And what are the plans for similar trains on the IND/BMT (Div B)?
Sorry if these topics have been recently been discussed, as I don't frequent
this group as often as I would like to ... and my news server seems to only
keep a few days of history.

This is a device to try and reduce station dwell times. When a train
arrives, the display starts counting down from 45 seconds. At the end of
the countdown, the conductor is supposed to close the doors and signal the
train to proceed.
You mean the R-110A, which reportedly was last seen on the No. 5. The R-142s
won't arrive until later this year and reportedly will run first on the 2 and 5
operating out of the East 180th St. yard.

There were no R-142s on the #3 line, because there have been no R-142s
delivered. The first ones ought to be coming within the next few
months. Could you be thinking of the R-110A? It ran on the #2.
