Can we refuse to pay the surcharge on renewal leases based on this judge's
decision?

Judge Tosses Out Rent Hikes on Lower-Rent Apartments

NEW YORK (AP/ 1010 WINS) -- A New York City judge has tossed out the
minimum rent increases imposed by the city's Rent Guidelines Board on
long-term residents of 300,000 rent-stabilized apartments renting for less
than $1,000 a month.

A Manhattan judge's ruling issued Monday says the increase punishes tenants
for failing to move in a city with almost no affordable housing.

Lawyers for the city vow to appeal.

The rent board in 2009 set a maximum rent hike of 3 percent for one-year
leases and 6 percent for 2-year leases.

But instead of a percentage increase, it ordered tenants living in the
lower-rent apartments for more than six years to pay $30 a month for
one-year leases and $60 a month for two-year leases.

This results in those tenants paying a higher percentage rent hike than
other tenants.

Many problems of modern society are caused by overpopulation.
Too many of us, Earth became too small

I know it's har dot believe when you get out somewhere into the middle of a
Corn field, Montana or Grand Canyon. Seems like there're still wide open
gaps on Earth.
But it's an illusion.

We're living now on an increasingly overstressed, poisoned, crowded planet.
Hence rent hikes.
Everyone wants at least an apt, and if possible a house, and a garage, a
pool, a background, and so on.

But it is also a fact you cannot stop esp. Males from reproduction, and even
if you do as one-child Policy if China attempted, then you face another
problem - eventually society accumulates too many elderly, and too few young
workers to support economy.
So what is the solution:

Global centralized control over birthrate would be useful, but will be met
with cries of "globalization plague".
So another solution is to MOVE ON to other planets.
It was over 500 years ago that Europe started expansion into Americas.
Now's the time for extra-planetary expansion.

So get your spacesuit, canned food, and a flashlight, and embark on a Cosmic
Trip to... I am not sure where yet.
I heard even Mars is too nasty.... not to mention hot-tubs like Jupiter or
venus with its posionous athmosphere.

Maybe get out of Milky Way Galaxy altogether?
