There is a program that comes installed with Ubuntu called TomBoy notes. I think the functionality might be a little different from OneNote (I've never used OneNote), but it basically lets you build a notekeeping file and automatically cross references things you type in a note with things you've typed in another note. For example, if you had a note titled "Car repair" and in another note you typed the words "car repair," it would turn those words into a link that, when clicked on, brings up your original note titled "car repair." I would imagine the program is available with other distros as well.

Hope this helps,
Daniel

OneNote is a nice program for organizing notes. I have found a couple
of programs for Linux that are note taking programs, but they are very
basic and do not work in a way that I like.
Thanks! -Joey

Daniel: Thanks for the suggestion. I knew about TomBoy, and it is not
what I am hoping for. Maybe I'll look for a way to run OneNote in
Linux.

Joey,

You can use a virtualbox to run virtualized windows with or look into
attempting a mono install of MS Onenote. I'm not familiar with MS
OneNote... I've heard of it but never seen anyone who used it.

I used to use Evernote when I was locked into Windows. It was/is a great free app.
I had a lot of stuff saved in it but it will not run in Linux and they (last time I checked)
have no Linux version.
