Charlie is currently in Europe however I can say that the framework is not yet been released as a 3.0 RC I cannot speak to the delays however my guess is that there are many issues still not resolved including parallel tests

I saw in July 2012 blog on NUnit site Charlie mention kicking out a pre-release 2.9.x by fall 2012 but I don't see that nor any recent progress report (maybe there's one but I cannot find such). Anyone know what's going on or the cause for delay?

Hi Ron,

Numerous things have interfered with that date, especially the new VS 2012 adapter.

Essentially, we have the problem of four entirely separate projects trying to move ahead using the same resources:
    NUnit 2.x
    NUnitLite
    NUnit VS Adapter
    NUnit 3.0

I see some hope, however. For the first time, individuals other than me have taken responsibility for two of those projects: the VS adapter and NUnitLite. If I can't find someone to take on NUnit 2.x by the time my trip is over, I think I'll just stop putting out updates.

NUnit 3.0, in my view, is the place to put our emphasis. NUnit 2.x and NUnitLite will fade away once NUnit 3.0 is useable.

However, currently being on vacation, I'm not going to make a prediction right now.

Hi,

Is there any plan to implement dynamic params concept in NUnit 3.0, i am eagerly waiting to see this in the new release.

Thanks,
kishore.

Hi KIishore,

There are, but not very definite yet and no work has been done.

We know that we would like to allow test parameters to be defined
* so that the cases are created right before execution, rather than at load time
* so that higher level setup can set parameters that affect the generation of lower level tests

At the lowers (test case) level, this can probably be done most easily by allowing test methods to return multiple test results - one per test case. At higher levels (parameterized fixtures for example) it's not so clear and a different approach may be needed.

I believe we still need to support (existing) statically defined test cases.

It remains to be seen whether this feature will use a new attribute, a parameter on  existing attributes or some other method to identify which tests are dynamic.

As always, ideas are welcome!

Charlie

For what little it is worth, we use NUnit for a number of our projects and would be supportive of this decision.  A lot of the pain points we do have with NUnit that causes us to need some hackery from time to time are scheduled to be addressed at some point in v3

Hi Charlie,

Now that it is November, are you feeling anymore confident about advising an updated release date target for NUnit 3.0?

Sincerely,

Andrew

Charlie, hello!

Any chance to see NUnit 3.0 released soon?
