I had an idea earlier, while playing some 1on1 games with Zircean.
For people with a rather large skill difference, it would be nice to
have an handicap mode, where it would be possible to adjust an attack
power divider. The idea is to maximize the challenge, fun and training
effect for both players, which have different skill / speed and still
want to play together.
Basically, the 1on1 would be played with fractional garbage, where the
garbage of the stronger palyer is multiplied by a factor x < 1, so
that the slower player can still keep up and ideally would receive
about the amount of garbage he is sending himself.
The game could even suggest a value x to the players, by taking the
ratio: real_apm_slow_player / real_apm_fast_player - ideally averaged
over multiple games.
Since the gameplay experience for the faster player probably doesn't
change too much (apart from the slower player surviving longer,
because he doesn't receive as many lines), one could also think about
using a factor > 1 for the incoming garbage of the faster player - so
in general one real value for each player to adjust the attack power
seperately.
