Wow, I live in Flower Mound too. I had to go all the way to Canton for
my 67 plates. Had to pay $65 for em. Im surprised with 2 days left
theres still no bids. Typically these things go for a lot more. Mint
condition ones go for $100-300 online. The price was so ridiculous
that I went everywhere local. Grapevine, Lewisville, Denton... Did you
have to go to Denton, or to Lewisville for the approval? Im glad you
said the DPS approved them. I was worried they wouldnt approve mine.
Mostly because they have a teeny tiny bit of rust. The guy I bought
mine from said that he sold a guy a pair of mint NOS that had never
been registered or put on a car, and their DPS wouldnt approve them!

BTW, how did you get the other one made? I know there are sites, but
Ive never seen classic ones done before. Mine have 5 digits, and Im
worried some moron collector might try and steal them. Plus it would
be someone nice if they were a little reflective. Im not worried about
cops, Im worried about everyone else.

Took the new plate to the Lewisville DPS tax office, ( where you can
change titles, renew registration or get new plates..It's been so
long now I don't remember who I had make this plate for me. I always
figured you would never have them mounted side by side so what diff.
if one had a tiny bit of difference in the lettering. I think I may
end the auction early as seems no interest in 65 plates.

The idea behind having two plates is 1) it is still the law that a
front and rear plate must be mounted on all TX vehicles, and 2) it
proves that you have two plates. Since originally two plates were
issued, and you only have one, whats stopping someone from running
around TX with your registered plate? Also prevents that person from
being ticked off that they cant register it because you already have
it.

I hope you didnt end it early, because then you have to pay the fees.
Otherwise you can relist the item for free, since there were no bids
and it didnt sell.

ERR, I have been around long enough to know Texas law and been
selling on Ebay since 1991 so have it pretty well figured out now but
thanks for the advise anyway. I ended the auction last Friday. Would
rather put these plate away than give them away on Ebay. When I
stated " never have them mounted side by side" below, I obviously
meant one plate in front, one in the rear. I did have both original
plates but one was torn and rusted, so had the dup made. Texas DPS
tells me these plates are an unregisted 65 number. Will proabley
relist about April when the garage queens come out.
