Ok, I've been meaning to try to arrange another meet and greet for a while now, and someone reccomended to me a particular venue that I thought would work well, so I thought I would toss it out there.
Every term, the Dal-ACM throws an Installfest in the Dal Computer Science building. The summer one is being run on April 22nd.
While an 'Installfest' generally implies people doing linux installations and the like, traditionally the event has been used as a springboard for other things, from programming to robotics projects.
There will also be food and beverages (and beer at some point I hear).

There's a good chance I'll be there. The past couple of months at work I've been busy implementing a cross-platform Rails-based solution at work on OpenVMS and Windows. If anyone wants to chat with me about that, I'll be the guy at the "Debian live CD" table.

I should be there the entire time as well. Probably roaming around, working here and there. Though, if you have questions about Radiant CMS you can ask me.

Hi Ronan,
What is it that you like about Radiant and are you using in on a production site?
I have been using and programming for Radiant before it was released, but the main developers are not fond of my ideas such that most of my efforts don't fit into their model of how Radiant should work. So, I guess my involvement resembles that of an opposition party in a democratic government.
We are using it on a production site but one with relatively modest needs right now. I really liked how easy the whole experience was compared with something like blogsam for example. It helps to know Rails obviously but this was a breeze to set up and use. I can see that it could use a few more bells and whistles-- comments on posts, etc. but there are so many others that do that. What kind of improvements have you in mind for Radiant? One minor concern is that it is frozen to Rails 1.1.6 right now. I'm not sure if there are any security issues with that.

I guess this is the current target application for Radiant. But even for that I believe it has some annoying design flaws.

Sure, if you are only looking for comments, you might as well use a real blog software such as Typo or Mephisto, but Radiant wants to be a CMS not a blog. And for a CMS I believe it lacks much more than just comments.
