This forum will remain search-able and archives, but no new posts will be
allowed.

Actually, I think NPSP is still in Google Groups like NPSF is, it's just
that Google is "Plusing" everything these days.
I believe NPSP used to have 2 forums...now they're combining to one.
And like you said, NSPF is same-old-same-old. :-)

So NPSP is migrating (to google+ it looks like) and NPSF is staying.

Hi Hudi... As a moderator of NPSF I thought I should chime in here.
NPSF (note the last letter is "F" not "P") is a separate and completely
independent listserv that is moderated by Sonny Cloward and myself. It is
not just about the nonprofit starter pack. It is for *all* users of
Salesforce in and around nonprofit environments regardless of the

I've got NPSF practitioners, NPSF discuss, and now NPSF users. is the
practitioners also phasing out? where do i send user to post and
search for solutions? will the NPSF cache all the other posts so there
is 1 place to turn to?

Nope, you're good. Most configuration is found in the custom settings, but
even if you remove those, they'll auto-configure to default values.

Are there any data records with the NPSP that must be preserved for things
to work ok? We deployed a new instance and have been getting ready for
go-live. Our go-live plans call for nuking all data... my data guru is
concerned though because she thinks there might be some records that we
shouldn't touch.

I would recommend Doug's answer. I have admin'd SF since July 2010
for one non profit and it has been slow, but increasingly helpful. I
have been able to make customizations that have been incredibly
helpful in tracking vehicle mileage use, maintenance reports, vehicle
reports, measuring volunteer efforts....
