First, make sure you have the specs for your monitor (resolution/freqs)
and do the following from KDE:
Ctrl-Alt-F2
(login as root)
init 3
(wait for everything to close and you get a prompt)
sax2
and setup your monitor. If you can't get a readable screen when you do
the 'sax2' command, try instead:
sax2 -l
(lowercase L, not a number one).
When you're finished, enter:
init 5
