Hi,
on my XP-Workstation I deinstalled Client 4.90SP2 und installes it new
((this time with "IP and IPX", before with "only IP", Re-Install was
necessary because I needed IPX)).
After Restart the Novell Login showed no mre the field with "User:...."
and "Password:...." .

Click on "Workstation only" doesn`t change anything.

I tried to start in "secure mode", but the Novell Client always starts
(without the both fields), so that I cannot start the Workstaion at all.

How can I delete the Novell Client so Windows starts as a simply Windows
Workstation without network ? Or what else could I do ?

Help would be appreciated.

If the machine has F&P sharing installed and enabled - go to
\\computername\c$\windows\system32 (you'll be asked for the local
administrator pasword) and rename nwgina.dll to nwgina_.dll, then
reboot. The original login dialog should come up.

Perform a clean uninstall as per this TID and then install the client again.

Hi Deyan,
thank you for the answer. Unfortunately file-sharing isn`t activated.
So, could I try to start the workstation with a Linux-Boot-CD and then
rename the nwgina.dll ?

That should work - or boot from the XP CD and use the recovery console.

You can't get into the PC booting in Safe Mode ?

Dear Hamish,
yes indeed: the PC booted, but did not stop at the prompt, but started
then - after 3 seconds - again Windows XP with ist crazy login without
fields...

Yes, with the recovery console I could rename nwgina.dll - no change.
Then I deleted winlogon-file - no change.
At least I deleted the whole harddisk and rebuilt the system. So it works
again now... I hope it never happens again....

Thanks for looking at my problem.
