Hi folks, I've been trying to perform some Google searches to resolve
this over the last few weeks (obviously I've not been very serious
about it!), but I'm not getting anywhere. Time to ask directly I
guess.

I have a NW65sp5 server that I'm trying to set up NetStorage to work
with. I've installed the NetStorage components from the CD, and the
iManager plugin seems to work, but whenever I try to create a domain,
I get the following JAVA errors:

java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.NullPointerException at
sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getInputStream(HttpURLCon
nection.java:598) at
sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getHeaderField(HttpURLCon
nection.java:1493) at
java.net.HttpURLConnection.getResponseCode(HttpURLConnection.java:281
) at
sun.net.www.protocol.https.HttpsURLConnectionImpl.getResponseCode(Das
hoA6275) at
com.novell.emframe.netstorage.NetStorage.authenticate(NetStorage.java
:1767)
at
com.novell.emframe.netstorage.NetStorage.getXML(NetStorage.java:1654)
at
com.novell.emframe.netstorage.NetStorage.getXML(NetStorage.java:1636)

...and more.

If I just go to the NetStorage Statistics page in iManager, it shows
that the server is "up". There's several login failures noted, 0
bytes read, and about 1600 bytes written.

If I follow the NetStorage docs and point my browser at
http://server_ip_address/oneNet/NetStorage/
I get an login box for "AuthXTier" that won't let me authenticate
using my system Admin account and password. Actually, it doesn't let
me authenticate with any user account or password.

Any suggestions about how to resolve any of this? Thanks!

Bill

what browser are you using? last time i did this, you need to use IE
for the iManager. Firefox wouldn't work for the admin bits...

Hmmm, hadn't been aware of this one. Yeah, I'm running FireFox 2 for
iManager (and all that entails). Since FF seemed to work with
everything, I hadn't thought to try IE instead. I'll let you know....

Thanks!

Bill,
When I go to my iManager in FF, I get a File Access (NetStorage) page
after I downloaded the NetStorage plugin. I then added under
"Authentication Domains" my main server with the master replica and the ou
contexts where the users reside. Not sure if this helps or not, but it
seems fine now. Not sure if you need to load the Java plugin for Firefox
too?

Just some suggestions. Hope this helps.
