I have a NW6 SP3 server running NetStorage. I can connect up fine using
the Website portion of it but when I try to use "Web Drives" or add a
Network Place from within Windows XP it does not work. What happens is
from within XP I goto "My Network Places" and "Add a Network Place", it
asks me for a Internet or network address and I fill in
https://MyDNSName/oneNet/Netstorage and it connects and asks me for my
username and pass, after that it is connected and I can see the "mapped"
drives but when I try to open one of them I get a error of:
"Documents in this folder are not available. The folder may have been
moved or deleted, or network problems may be preventing a connection to
the server."

I know what the problem is but do not know how to fix it. Basically when
you are viewing the "Drives" that you have mapped in the address bar I
see: https://MyDNSname/oneNet/Netstorage but when I double click on one
of the drives I see: http://MyDNSname/oneNet/Netstorage/DriveF@SHARED
with out the s on the http and I get the error stated above.
I read on some other posts that Office XP "breaks" WebDAV and I do have
Office XP on this machine. I tried it on a non-Office XP computer and it
works fine, so I assume the OfficeXP problem is my problem.
I have tried to use NetDrive and I can get into my "Drives" but if I try
to copy something out of them it locks up my computer.

Is there any fix for this?????

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

Hello. Unfortunately, I don't have the solution to your problem. However, I
did want to add I see the same thing of going from https to http when
accessing the drives once logged into NetStorage. I am able to get to the
drives without a problem on a Window XP (SP1) workstation which has Office
XP SP2 installed. The server NetStorage is running on is NW 6 SP3.

I am wondering if there is no encryption after accessing one of the drives.
This is an issue for users in our environment.

Thanks for the reply Monte!!!
What I did leave out is that it does work from with our network but the
problem lies outside of our Network (at home). My home machine which does
not have Office XP works fine and keeps the https but my laptop which I
use a work and home does have Office XP and does drop the s off of http
works fine at work but not at home. A co-worker who has Office XP at home
cannot connect either.
So from within the network it is not a problem but at home the users
cannot have Office XP installed which some of them need.

So it is Office XP that is causing the problem, now we just need a fix :)

Thanks for the reply,
Scott
