Hi all

We have a number of iPrint enabled printers installed via the iPrint client from a HTML page using the 'maptool'. The installation works just fine. Now we want to update the driver. How do we get the driver to update on the workstation? The only way I can seem to get it to happen is by uninstallaing the printer and reinstalling.

We are using Netware 6.5sp2 and WinXP sp1.

Many thanks

We are having the same issue here. I can use a url to push the driver
to machines that do not have the printer installed. If they do have it
installed it comes back saying the printer is already installed and
does not continue. Is there a url or cmd line that can be used to
remove a given iprint printer? If so a distribution tool such as
Zenworks or Landesk could be used to push the removal followed by
reinstallation. The client could then get the updated driver.
Ideally this push of driver updates should be a feature within iprint
as it would help in central management of printers and increase
standardization of configuration. So far I cannot find a solution
other then manual removal and reinstall of drivers to fix this.

yes there some different ways. An easy way without typing a lot of
characters is this one:

another possibilty will be to remove / add the printer by iprntcmd.exe
that is installed on any workstation that has the iPrint Client installed.

thats still the "normal" way at this time :-( but with the tool above it
will be very easy ;-)

Sort of by accident I found that if I go to NDPS manager on server console
and use F3 to rename the printer, iPrint will reinstall the printer on all
workstations imediately. The workstation do not need reboot/relogon. It is
enough to change one letter in the printers name.

I have done this several times, and it works great. This is a great way to
distribute a new driver or an new printer profile, and of course a great way
to rename a printer on all workstations.

Can I assume that the F3 rename will only work on printers that are currently installed on a PC?

i.e.  There are 50 PCs with an iPrint printer for "Accounting".  I just updated the Printer Driver Profile for the HP4250 printers.  If I "rename" the printer to "Accounting1", then it will automatically change the name on the user's PC and update the config with the info from the profile.  Also, the "Accounting" printer will no longer be listed?

Also - can I assume it will not install "Accounting1" to the other 200 PCs in the company?

What needs to be done in iManager under the Agent's "Access Control", if anything?
