We have a shared folder among department users that serves as their work
queue. When a user opens or reads a item in the mail box, the other users
who enter the folder see the item as still being not read.

Is there a setting we're missing to cause this to update? This happens
whether the user has the folder open, opens the folder, or even restarts the
GW client.

We're on GW7 dtd 12/19/2005, I have the SP1 beta in the wings and I'm
testing on that now.

Stewart,

The 'read' status on items in a shared folder is per user. Meaning one person reading an item only affects them and not anyone else.

The simplest way to use a shared folder as a shared work queue would be to have users reply to items they are working on with a simple subject like "I'll take this one" and then replying "done" when completed. If all users view the shared folder by discussion threads it will be obvious who is working on what and when it is done.
