I have a problem with users logging in to a Cluster:
2 x Netware 6.5 SP1a Servers in a 2 node cluster
Server 1 Master Node
Server 2
Clients login using Netware Client 4.9SP1a on Win2K PCs
In the Novell Client, users are logging into the cluster. The login script
screen displays that they are connected to either server1 or server 2 and
authenticated to the cluster. They recieve all the mapped drives and can
work.
However after some time, a month, the same users get the error:
Internal Error 0xFFFFE86A when trying to login from the PC. If they click on
the advanced button on the Netware Client - The Server has changed to Server
2, when it should be the cluster. Now no one can login at all and all PCs
display the same error. Those PCs already logged in are fine until they log
out and back in again.
When server 2 is rebooted, all is fine again.
Does it matter which server people login into, when they login to a Cluster?
Why should a reboot of the server resolve the issue? It seems like eDir is
locking up on Server 2. What checks can I make on eDir on Server2?
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

When you have a cluster you want your users to login to the cluster
object itself, or to the IP address/DNS name of the Master IP Address
Resource.

Make sure that both servers in the cluster have replicas of te same
partitions and that they're either master or read/write replicas.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
Both servers have replicas of Root. Server1 -Master, Server2-Read/Write.
There are some -601 and -603 errors. Do I need to worry about these???
All users have been logging into the Cluster Object itself, not the DNS or
IP address.... Does this matter? Also when the problem occurs, the server in
the client changes to Server2???

Yes,that might be the root cause for your problems. Start by doing an
NDS Health Check as per TID 10060600 and post back with the results.

No that should be fine.

I'm not sure why that happens. I've never seen that myself.
But as you say you have some other errors in DS, let's start
by resolving those and this might be cleared automatically.
If they are in dstrace, no. If they are in dsrepair - report sync
status, yes.
