I'm having an issue with a remote 6.5 machine not updating it's
nds/edirectory version despite having had two seperate service packs
installed. I've verified that it has no communication issues, and
dsrepair doesn't find any errors.

For background, this machine was an in-place upgrade from 5.1 to 6.5.
I suspect that something went awry during the post-install nds
conversion, as the products database is showing 2.01 of Nici
installed and that the machine is still running NDS8.

At the command prompt, version is showing that NDS 10510.64 is
running, and that sp2 has been installed.

On the nici side, even though the products database is showing 2.01,
if I load nicisdi.xlm, it comes up as 26410.07 from 6-15-04. However,
no nici modules are automatically loaded at startup.

I'd really appreciate any pointers towards straightening this out.

I'm thinking I either need to fix the products database, or go after
updating nici and edir manually, then re-applying sp2.

Comments?

Thanks,
Dan Beggs

You need to fix the products DB, and then reapply SP2.

Thanks for the quick response!

According to TID 10069675, it looks like I could just copy a good
products.dat from another machine to this one and then reapply sp2. Do
you see any reason why I shouldn't do that? (I've got a couple of sp2
machines that are running just fine.)

Thanks,
Dan

If you have one that matches the installed products, that would work.
The other option is to build your own .IPS file which does nothing
except to put in the necessary products info. IIRC, there are some
examples in the KB for this.
