This is a copy of the email I got and the note at the bottom permits me to
send to my friends, so I'm making an assumption that I can post it here.

This week: Ars Gratia Artis

_________________________________________________________________

Friday rolls around once more and this week we invite you to test
your knowledge of the world's finest painters. We're not talking
about home decoration here, rather a passion that led a certain
Dutchman to cut off part of his ear. And if you know what the title
of this week's quiz means, you can award yourself an extra point.

Good luck and have fun!

1. Who painted the famous "Mona Lisa" (1503)?

2. James Whistler, painter of "Whistler's Mother", was born in
which country?

3. Which famous artist painted "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" and
"Guernica"?

4. Was Rembrandt born in France, Belgium or Holland?

5. Which famous British painter's first names were Joseph Mallord
William?

6. How old was Van Gogh when he died: 37, 47 or 67?

7. The painter Caravaggio was born at a place called Caravaggio:
true or false?

8. Which painter called his 1966 autobiography "Diary of a Genius"?

9. Which painter's original name was Jerome van Aken?

10. Which Russian painter was Commissar of Fine Arts in Vitebsk
and later painted a new ceiling for the Paris Opera?

BTW

my score was "a resonable stab"

How did you do?

0 - 1 Mmmm, not exactly brilliant.
2 - 5 A reasonable stab.
6 - 8 A good showing. But there's still room for improvement!
9 - 10 You really know your stuff. Well done!

Boomer,

Well, it's a silly survey - says 0 - 1 Mmmm, not exactly brilliant -
