Yo,
I've been playing around with cutting rubber stamps using the laser
cutter.
It works pretty darm well. I've done a wiki page here:
http://wiki.nottinghack.org.uk/wiki/Laser_Stamps
If I did a workshop on this would anyone be interested in attending.
I'll put it into the workshop list.
I've got quite a bit of laser-cuttable rubber, if anyone want to make
some of their own then show interest in this thread.
If anyone knows of cheap-ish ink pads to use then add to this post.
Later,

Matt

I am very interested with using laser cut stamps in my hand operated letterpress , how tough is the rubber? How fine a cut do you think you might get? What quality is the edge of the cut?

Ummm....
Not sure on the specifications.
The rubber is designed for the job (it was from a commercial company
hence the high cost of P&P for a small order).
I got pretty good resolution, problems were mainly due to depth of
cut. I think the resolution could be incredibly fine (well as fine as
the laser can be), but we need to have a play with that.
Basically I'd have a play and see how it goes.

Yes, this is exactly one of the things I want to do on the laser

Yes! I would like to make a Terrence Stamp stamp.

It's for a friend ¬¬

(It is actually for a friend).

There was talk of a Nottinghack "Hacker Passport" stamp a while ago...
(runs away from Rule3 due to artistic ineptitude)

Regards
Tony

I have an idea and want to do that too, it just requires some reference photography first.

We made a hackspace passport stamp that worked really well. It was very cool and I'm quite impressed with the material. I'd say this was a good idea for a workshop.

Yes please! I want officious rubber stamps! I'd also like to turn some
handles on the lathe for a full design and build.

The idea of a Kneel Before Zod Terrence Stamp stamp (possibly stamped onto your hand when entering the event) is the most terrifying and awesome thing in the universe.

AWESOME.
