Dear Hackerspace folks

I have a very very limited offer. I've reserved 10 camping plots (or whatever you call them) for a camping trip to Southwold. I've made this Eventbrite page

I'm asking for a £5 deposit (of which 95p goes to Eventbrite) this deposit will be refunded in the form of coins to use at the amazing Under the Pier Show at Southwold pier. There will also be the opportunity to do a brewery tour (£10 not included). The camping and the travelling costs are also NOT included!

Please book up ASAP to ensure your ticket. I'm going to be putting this URL out to the other UK hackerspaces by Saturday, but Nottingham has the first refusal. Any questions or details wanted ask here.

We may also be able to organise group transport. We can also arrange that here. I've created 12 tickets but we *might* be able to take more as each tent can have an unlimited number of (paying) adults and children. Anyway it's a big deal of a trip. Will go on my own if no one else comes along.

Would like to just wave this about again. I've now sent it out to a lot more people from the Hackerspace world.

Couple of folks I thought might be interested and not heard from - Spencer, Tony, Michael E, Mouse and others. DO get your deposit in. Deadline for me on this is 16th April.

I would like to go... but I will be away camping the weekend before
and the weekend after, so at the moment I don't think I can commit the
time. Sorry. If anything changes, and if there are still spaces
available nearer to the time then I would love to go.

We might come along but stay in a B&B. I'll have a better idea on Monday night.

I'd like to reserve a space, but I want to make sure I can get there and back. Can I get a lift to/from Nottingham with someone? Public transport is a bit hit-and-miss that far in the sticks...

Hi Nottingham folk,
I'm not sure if this invite has gone out to other hackerspaces; I'm a lurker on this list, but a member of BuildBrighton. My partner and I would love to come (and happy to reserve 2 spots by paying on the Eventbrite page) but I don't want to step on the toes of any nottinghack people. Is it safe for us to sign up?!

Yep, that's what I meant by "consider me going"!

Turns out that to travel by public transport, it's either going via London and Ipswich, or Norwich and Ipswich (note the relative locations of Norwich, Ipswich and Southwold).

The train from Ipswich only gets you as far as Halesworth, and it's another 5 miles by bus (if you can get one), taxi or bike to Southwold itself.

It's hard to support public transport sometimes....

At this point folks shouldn't worry about transport, I should have made this clearer at the start, if need be we'll hire a mini bus. Also folks can join us on Saturday morning I would think... To be honest I've a lot more planning to do for this but once I've got the names I can do the detail.

I'd rather folk reserved a spot but cancelled later than missed out.

I just signed up for this, I'll be driving over on Saturday morning and coming back on Sunday from Countesthorpe.

If it helps travel plans I have space in my car and I don't mind taking a bit of a detour to pick people up (although not all the way up to Nottingham)

I also have a spare wing in my tent if anyone is lacking their own camping facilities.

Unfortunately it's at 10:00am can you all confirm you'll be able to make it for that time? If not I'd like to cancel a few places and get my money back! I've got the option to add 2 more people if I get a response from Barney or Martin about the early start!

You get a tasting and a bottle to take home!! If you can't make 10am it might be possible to move your tour to another time but you'd not be with the group!?

James,

I'll eagerly take you up on that - thank you very much! I'm going to
be going on the Friday night too - getting a lift up most of the way
with the Brighton folks. My number is 07784 367301. We should
arrange a back-up meeting plan in case there's no mobile reception at
the site.. i.e. a note left at reception with the location and
description of the tent or something like that. Possibly some sort of
flashing LED attachment on the tent. :D

If you would like money ahead of time for the pitch, just shout and I
can paypal or bank xfer some to you - else I'll bring cash.

Mouse

P.S. I've been putting off arranging anything until today because I
was studying for the MITx electronics exam which was this weekend. The
exam went well, and procrastination on the subject of the camping trip
seems to have paid off because without really trying I have gotten
myself a lift and a spot in a tent. :D You guys are wonderful!

I've arranged a lift with James Hayward on Friday afternoon. I'm pretty sure I can get the time off work, but I'd like a backup plan in place if it all goes wrong.

I can get a Nottingham->Norwich train which arrives in Norwich at 2022 on the Friday night. In the unlikely event that I have to stay at work, could someone provide a lift from Norwich to Southwold? I will pay for petrol, and provide thank-you beer/food/other.
