Jim, and others -
Apologies about not getting this week's meeting in order. Things have been hectic on my end but it's no excuse for not doing my part.
A few things I wanted to put to the group:
1) Do we want to have weekly meetings or do we think bi-weekly is enough to quench our NoSQL thirst? (I ask because several people have expressed to me (offline) that bi-weekly would suffice for them. I have also spoken with several other organizers who are only doing bi-weekly meetings.)
2) I mentioned things were hectic. That is because I've just moved to San Francisco. So, I'm not sure it makes sense for me to spearhead the meeting organization as I won't be able to attend. Any brave souls want to step up and take this on? (Rest assured, I'll be more than happy to coordinate things until someone is capable of taking over). Let me know and i'll supply you with the requisite information.
3) There will be a meeting next week on Thursday, 7/15. Before I start hounding potential presenters...is there anyone interested in picking a paper/database and wowing the group?

One vote for bi-weekly. Anyone for? Opposed?

NERD is lined up for the remainder of the summer but the location can certainly be changed for whatever reason. I would like to get back to MSFT about whether or not they can free up the room they granted us, so if you want to change it, doing it sooner than later would be better.

You could always look into whether you can use the Foley Hoag Enterprise Center in Waltham (behind the Cambridge Reservoir, in one of those office parks where many VC firms live).

Oh, I wasn't asking for the venue to be changed. I love the NERD!
I was getting a feel for what is needed for organizing the rest of the summer. If it's every other Thursday night at NERD the rest of the summer, I'd be happy to organize.

Oh, sorry, I thought by "lined up" you meant that it had been booked by someone else. I don't know why I thought that. Sorry!
For me it's a fine location. The only bad thing about it is that if you're coming by car, the parking is very expensive (it always seems to be $20). I can walk over from work.
For those driving, as long as you arrive after 6PM, there's usually plenty of free on-street parking available on the North side of Main Street. There are a lot of threating-looking signs, but if you look closely (and please do - I don't want anyone to get a ticket) all of them seem to say "NO PARKING" then (in small print), "between 9AM and 6PM".

Great! I'll shoot you an email with all the necessary details and I'll inform the MSFT people we are cutting it back to bi-weekly, with next Thursday being a go.
Thanks guys. I know you're not moving venue, but wanted to toss out
there that should you want to do something like this in Waltham, I'm
happy to offer up the MS offices at Jones Road (near 117 and Bear
Hill) if needed, and space permitting of course :)
