I thought it would be a good idea to touch bases with everyone on
where we are with volunteers, thus far. Right now, we've had 14 people
contact the Volunteers department wanting us to know they could help
us out in some way. Most wish to relay specific skills and/or times
they are available, and want to stress the importance of those
particulars.
Of those 14, we've had 4 state no preference, 2 Volunteer Services, 2
Scheduled Games, 1, Vol/Hospitality, 1 Art/IT/Games, 1 Registration, 1
Registration/Spec. Events, 1 Cloak Room, and 1 for Programming.
Transportation, thus far, is the only department that has sent me
requests for so many estimated volunteers needed on the given days
(and times) they will have a need for volunteers. Having such
information means that I can actively search for people to assist with
that department, within the time frame that volunteers make themselves
available. Thank you, Daniel.
For the benefit of those who don't understand my need or desire for
such information, I will explain; it allows me the opportunity to work
on recruiting more volunteers, prior to the time they are needed to
help out, from the clubs I am in regular contact with. Many clubs
offer incentive-rewards to their members for volunteering time or
services to various organizations (including conventions), but they -
that is the clubs, as well as the individual members - also like to
know ahead of time what they are needed to do and how long it might
take them away from other activities. So, please send me an e-mail
with an estimate of the number of people you might need on a given
day, and/or at a particular time, for your department.
