Request for YOUR Input as a Cyclist

Neighbourhood Cycling stewardship groups throughout the city have been pointing out specific locations areas where relatively simple changes in infrastructure design will make a big difference. The list is being used by the City of Winnipeg's Active Transportation Advisory Committee to identify, prioritize and implement on-the-ground changes.

The latest updated list is posted here: http://www.onegreencity.com/version2.0/spotfixes_updated.xls

Thanks to you, it is an excellent source of ideas and solutions and offers warnings of areas to avoid. New additions are encouraged. Please post your idea to the appropriate area's group and it will be added. ( If you've already suggested something and it is missing, please contact info@onegreencity.com. )

Note: If it is a really easy fix, (like a pothole or unswept curb lane), please call 986-ROAD.

"Bicycle Repair by the Community for the Community"

We will use this first official N.W.C.C. meeting of 2008 to begin the planning for bicycle training/repair events.
North Winnipeg Commuter Cyclists was successful in receiving even more funding to create even more bicycle repair capacity within the community. This is in addition to the funding that helped us create the tool station at Ralph Brown. As well, other organizations have also submitted successful grant applications for similar programs.
The intent of Wednesday's meeting is to plan some of the activities for this spring to help make this happen, chief among them being a bicycle building workshop, and the opening of more tool stations.
The successful applicants will be gathering to talk about the the possibilities offered by the grants and to seek input into their ideas.

Hope to see you there.
