I figure that this is something we can discuss now, rather than waiting
for the next game to get going.

Ever since I found my old write-ups, I've been intending on doing one
for the next campaign, just to have the fun of finding it years later.
But Rich brought up chips rewards for write-ups and journals, so here
we are.

Rich, if you do go with chip rewards for that stuff, I'm of the opinion
that they shouldn't be able to be used for any sort of experience
bonus, as they were in the past. I've talked this over with Drew, and
I think he's with me on this one. I don't want to see my character be
better than, say, Ogre's character, just because I have more free time.
A dramatic reversal, I know.

Anybody else care to chime in with their opinions?

I'm so glad you and Drew have come to a concensus on this. :P

I didn't bring this up yet, because I haven't completely decided what
I'm going to do...
BUT I have also been thinking of revising the chip system.
What I'm kicking around is that Chips may be usable like an action
point, since EB O'Ron uses the Action point system.
ANd That I might not differentiate between "big chips" and "Small
Chips"

Duly noted.

I did not ask Kurt to bring me into this >:(

Well, that does sound reasonable. I can say from some limited
experience in Eberron that nobody ever seems to come close to using all
their action points, but with the chip system to fall back on (or use
first, whichever) they would definitely see greater use. So from that
perspective it could be pretty good.

Alternately, you could allow the chip to enhance an action point by
bumping its usefulness up to the next level (i.e. you only roll 1 die
to determine the result at levels 1-7, 2 from 8-12, etc., whereas
instead you could roll 2 from 1-7 or 3 from 8-12). Now, in the normal
rules you only take the better value of the two dice, so alternately
you could have a chip enhance an action point by actually granting a
second die to add to the result of the action point's die.

Or you could make it so that no matter who writes a journal, my
character gets an extra level.
