Three Topics included - FLL
Kickoff, Tournament status and Graduation Grants!
1) FLL Kickoff will be back at Google - a huge thank you for
their
ongoing support ! The kickoff will be Friday 9/3 evening .
We will be prioritizing rookie teams first - and we will limit a team
to
bring no more than 6 team members plus 2 adults. To RSVP, we
must have full names of all attendees - registration to attend the
kickoff will open Monday 8/16.
2) We are posting the status of FLL tournaments as updates
come in - see bottom of the article on norcalfll.org site titled, "2010
Nor Cal Tournament Info" under the "Latest News" links.
3) For those aging out of FIRST LEGO League and looking at what's
next.....
we are excited to offer "Graduation Grants" for new (rookie)
FIRST Tech
Challenge teams. FTC is considered a high school program and for
those in upper middle or jr. high that are ready for the more advanced
2x2
game.
The size of the grant varies based on the number of years that the team
has participated in Jr FLL and/or FLL Details will be in the grant
application.
We will be posting the grant application for this specific "Graduation
Grant" on
the norcalftc.org site on Monday 8/16. The deadline to apply will be
Sept 6th
and all decisions will be based on applications received by the end of
that day;
Grantees will be announced at the FTC Game kickoff event on Sept 11th.
We don't have unlimited grant money, so if the team really is not in a
situation
of needing the funds, we would greatly appreciate being able to direct
the funds
to those most in need.
