I hope that you folks are accepting new players and if so, I would
like to apply. I have studied the rules and want to learn how to play
well so that I can teach my family how to play.
My desire is to recreate the game somewhat (through playing it with my
family) so as to make it into another more rigidly defined Email Game
centered around a topic we have already decided upon.
But in the meanwhile we are starting a basic game, and I want to have
ready as a teaching aid, my experience playing with a team that
already knows the ropes.
Also I want to learn how you have adapted the game to be played in an
online forum, since that is what I will be doing (Using a PHP free
forum). I have learned a lot just by looking around, but of course,
looking is different than doing.8-)
Anyway, I suspect that my first few posts will be moderated, which
explains why my first one is not online yet, so if there are any
questions or requirements I will be happy to talk about them.

As it sounds you may be interested in such things, Nomicron is run by
a java application written using spring framework and hibernate. If
you have any questions about how things are run here, just post the
public forum (google group) and someone will answer your question.
I've removed the moderation flag from your group subscription.
Welcome to Nomicron!

Thanks for the welcome. My questions at this point are more
proceedural, but I do some (hobby level) programming and scripting so
maybe later I will look in to what y'all have set up if I can.
For instance, it wasn't until we started playing that I realized that
"Turn" meant (at least to start) a cycle of proposing and voting. I
had sort of thought that each individual post would be a "turn" but I
see now that this wouldn't work. Obvious in retrospect, but it shows
what kind of things I need to learn.
I modified the Initial Set to accomodate online play, but forgot to
include rules about whether to start a new topic for a new proposal...
assumptions...
Anyway, I look forward to seeing how your group is taking care of some
of those sort of things, and hopefully, have some fun in the process.

My suggestion for your family game would be to use the Suber initial
ruleset rather than trying to adapt the Nomicron rules. That ruleset is
available online at

Grrr.... My lovely wife, while a fine woman in all other regards, has
not taken her turn for over 48 hrs. 8-D
If I ever get a turn, I will propose that Dilatory players forfeit
their turn! That'll teach her!
