Mondays: 11 weeks - begins December 7th

Asharah & Belladonna Weekend of Workshops
Two alluring instructors... one hot weekend! Hipnosis is excited to be hosting two of DC's most prominent Tribal Fusion dancers... Asharah & Belladonna. This is a weekend not to be missed!
When: November 14 & 15, 2009 (see below for times)
Where: Asplundh Field House, 2775 Buck Road, Bryn Athyn, PA 19009
Cost: Single class = $40 / Full day Sat or Sun = $70 / Entire weekend = $120

Asharah - Pops, Locks, and Tick Tocks: Tricks to Mechanize your Movement
Saturday 12:00-2:00pm (Experience Level: Intermediate beginner and above)
Inspired by robots, experimental electronic music, and poppin' and lockin', Asharah has integrated mechanical movements into her expressive tribal fusion performances. In this workshop, Asharah will lead students through an intense warm up and then will show students how to break down traditional bellydance movements such as vertical hip figure-8s, shoulder rolls, torso undulations, turns, and arm waves into smaller and sharper parts to give your performances a robotic and creepy edge.
Belladonna - Fusion Fragments
Saturday 2:30-4:30pm
These Saucy tribal fusion combination's are good for everyone! Funky and Fun mini choreographies are great for group or solo improvisation as well as a start to building your own choreography. Inspired not only by traditional belly dance, they fuse Modern, Industrial Hip Hop, Jazz and classical world dances to bring you a belly dance style as unique as the 21^st century.
Asharah - Danse Mécanique: Elegant Movement for Tribal Fusion Bellydance
Sunday 12:00-2:00pm (Experience Level: Intermediate beginner and above)
This workshop will help you refine your technique and add elegance to your bellydance movement. While clean and sharp technique is an essential part of the tribal dancer's repertoire, grace and polish are equally, if not more, important for conveying expression and feeling from the stage to the audience. Asharah will lead students through an intense warm-up that will prepare the body for fluid arm-work, well-defined isolations, and dramatic extension. We will drill smooth bellydance movements and hard contraction movements. Asharah will also lead students through foot and hand exercises to help participants gain a greater sense of poise and grace.
Belladonna - Sword Stylization
Sunday 2:30-4:30pm
Belladonna is a master of the sword dance. She is well known for her double sword work & her un-dulled scimitar balancing. Let her guide you through using your sword as a partner and infuse strength and purpose into your sword work. Swords are for more than just balancing – they can be sensual and powerful partners. Information on the basics of choosing a sword that is right for you, care, techniques, and/or choreography. Some belly dance experience recommended, knee pads suggested.

Winter Workshop Series with Vikki
Vikki will teach three exciting choreographies over the winter session. This is an excellent opportunity to break outside of the "tribal box" and mix it up a bit. Space will be limited to 10 dancers per workshop. If there is enough interest, the series will be repeated.

Skirt Dance
Sunday, Dec 20, 2009 - 10:00-12:00pm
A fun, sassy piece to Battle by Beats Antique featuring both Spanish and Indian flavors. A 10yard (or larger) skirt is needed for this workshop.
Drum Solo
Sunday, Junuary 17, 2010 - 10:00-12:00pm
An exciting, upbeat choreography to Hipnotik by Cairo Trip Hop Underground that is sure to get your blood pumping!
Veil Dance
Sunday, February 21, 2010 - 10:00-12:00pm
This piece is choreographed to Marco Polo by Lorena McKennit and features flowing veils moves along with entrancing dance moves... a truely charming piece!

Belly Jam
Open to dancers & musicians of all styles & levels...non-dancers welcome as well! Plenty of open floor dancing. Visit our vendors in the Souk for costume delights. Costumes encouraged!! Come dance the night away, or just sit back and enjoy!
