We can't do this show without you, the fan and supporter, so if you

of American music are given their due: celebrated, included, and
remembered, but most of all, heard.

Ponderosa Stomp Fridays at the Louisiana State Museum: Conversations &
Cocktails with the Unsung Heroes of Rock n' Roll

The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation and the Louisiana State Museum present
a series of evening conversations with the shapers of American music,
including many who are featured in the Stomp-curated exhibit "Unsung
Heroes: The Secret History of Louisiana Rock n' Roll" currently up at
the Cabildo in Jackson Square.

On the second Friday of each month from 5:30-8 p.m., join us at the
Cabildo on Jackson Square for cocktails and DJs spinning vintage 45s
in the courtyard, walk through the exhibit & then enjoy the live
interview or film showing & discussion. Admission to both the event &
the exhibit is free each month.

We are thrilled to kick-off the monthly events on Friday March 12 with
Harold Battiste talking with David Kunian. Harold Battiste may be best
known as Sonny & Cher's arranger, but there's much more to the story
than that interesting piece of pop trivia. Sax player, arranger,
talent scout, educator, record executive and jazz historian–Battiste
has worked every inch of the record biz. In 1961, he started the
visionary black-owned collective record label A.F.O. (All For One) an
idea decades ahead of its time. After relocating to California,
Battiste hooked up with Sonny & Cher while doing session work. Between
sessions, Battiste concocted the Gris Gris album with Mac Rebennack
(alias Dr. John) and after years on the West Coast, moved back to New
Orleans, where he was instrumental in the creation of the UNO Jazz
Studies Program. Committed to the preservation of modern jazz in New
Orleans, Battiste reactivated A.F.O. and has reissued classic
performances on that label ever since, as well as influencing
countless younger players with his talent, interest and open-minded
attitude.

The event website will have for more information on the coming months'
events soon, so check back often for more information.

There's Still Time to Get Your Tickets & Join Us at the Party of the
Year!

The Louisiana State Museum and its Foundation present a gala to fete
The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation and the 60th anniversary of the Fats
Domino hit “The Fat Man” and the gentlemen behind the music, trumpeter/
producer/arranger Dave Bartholomew and producer/studio owner Cosimo
Matassa.

The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation will be honored for their tireless
efforts on behalf of Louisiana’s musical pioneers, specifically for
their work on the exhibit, The Secret History of Louisiana Rock ‘n’
Roll. The Museum is currently exhibiting The Secret History exhibit,
which was curated by the Ponderosa Stomp Foundation and is a central
part of this exciting event. It is the first museum exhibit of its
kind – a much-belated celebration of the state’s formidable
contribution to American music.

The festivities will take place at the Arsenal (601 S Peters),
adjacent to the historic Cabildo building in the French Quarter’s
Jackson Square. The gala takes place Friday, March 5th.
