Friday, November 20th - Craig Klein's N.O. Jazz Stars
Craig Klein's N.O. Jazz Stars is an upbeat New Orleans jazz band
featuring renowned trombonist Craig Klein. New Orleans-born Klein
received his first trombone at the age of six from his musician uncle,
Gerry Dallmann. His professional musical career began in 1979 when he
started playing with a traditional New Orleans brass band. He expanded
his musical experience when he joined the Storyville Stompers Brass
Band, and his extensive experience includes work the Olympia Brass
Band, the O'Jays, George Porter Jr., the New Orleans Nightcrawlers,
the Leroy Jones Quintet, Dave Bartholomew, Wardell Quezergue, and
Harry Connick Jr. In 1998, Craig collaborated with fellow Connick-
bandmate Mark Mullins, and co-founded one of New Orleans' most beloved
bands, the amazing trombone-based Bonerama.
Saturday, November 21st - Paul Sanchez with Alex McMurray
Paul Sanchez is a troubadour from New Orleans. He is a storyteller,
his own as well as ours. Paul has a skewed vision of the world that
comes only with an existence based in New Orleans, a city rampant with
celebration and despair. It's beyond colloquialisms and language. It's
more of a slant and feel; it's in his blood.
In New Orleans, a town full of great musicians, Alex McMurray is
regarded as one of the best singers, guitarists and, above all,
songwriters. He is also a wit, a bulldog, and, as co-producer (with
his wife Kourtney) of Chaz Fest, a pillar of his community. He
connects with live audiences -- hipsters or tourists; it's what he
does for a living. But it is his songs that set him apart.
