1. Publish your project idea to git. At this point it doesn't matter if it
works. Someone will immediately contribute it and fix up the bugs.
2. Make sure it has a fairly high revision level to start out. That way lots
of people will download it and you have the best chance of getting some
contributors.
3. Do as many of these projects as possible so people will know how creative
you are.
4. Finally, make sure your full name is on everything so the credit will go
where the credit is due.
Best of Luck in your new career.

Please, tag this as a joke... I'm afraid some people would take it for real. :)

I'm too lazy to spend a weekend on it... Maybe it's better to write a bot to grind this reputation? -_-

OMG that's a wonderful idea. A bot that create node.js modules based on some other modules on npm, publish to github and npm.

It will be like something I saw recently, this postmodernism generator: http://www.elsewhere.org/pomo/ (refresh the page to get a new one) thanks @ajlopez for the link

The readmes might have some cliche phrases like "Why another template generator?", etc.

We can create a linkedin profile for this guy to see what job offers he gets

That won't harm discovery.
