Text not visible w/Light Preset

Seems text is always white even if I select black for annotations...

Annotations refers to text that Nodal generates automatically (e.g.
node counters).
To change the colour of text you've created, just select the text,
right click, go to "Font -> Show Colors" and you can then go and
change the colour of text to any colour you like.

Thanks for the clarification on annotations.

For the primary problem report:
I thought a 'preset' would have legible text, i.e., a visible color.
I do not want to have to change the color of every entry just because
I prefer the light background 'preset'.

Yes, you are correct you have to set the colour to something other
than white when using the light preset. We will try and improve this
situation in the next release.
As a workaround, you can always create a new default template with
whatever colour text you prefer. Then when you need to create a new
text box, just copy the existing text which will appear in all new
files.

I'll second the request - are you planning to put a "User Text" or similar item in the Style pane (like there is for Annotations)?
