So, I'm trying to set up MoneyWell. When I set up a new banking
account, MW asked me for the balance. I entered the online balance, as
of today.

Now I can't figure out how to move that money into a bucket!

I see that I can drag to move money from bucket to bucket, but how do
I get it from the "account" into a bucket in the first place?

Thanks!

Just assign your starting balance to one of your income buckets. Then
you can allocate it from there.

Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry to be dense, but I'm not seeing how
to do this.

When you say "assign starting balance to one of your income buckets,"
I don't see how that works. I see that I can create a new transaction,
choose the bank account from the "Account To" drop-down, and select an
income bucket from the bucket drop-down. My goal is to move all the
existing money in the account into an income bucket for distribution.
But if I do it this way, with a new transaction, the balance in the
account doubles--it thinks I'm adding new money, not distributing
already-existing money.

I'm sure this is an obvious thing I'm missing, so any help is
appreciated.

It's much more simple than that. When you created a new account, MoneyWell automatically added a transaction called "Starting Balance" that is not assigned to a bucket. If you allowed MoneyWell to make the default buckets, you'll have one called "Salary." Make sure you have the "All Transactions" bucket selected so you can see the starting balance transaction and then drag and drop it to the Salary bucket.

You can optionally just click on that transaction and use the bucket drop-down to select the Salary bucket. You can see this process by watching our Getting Started video tutorial.

Thank you!

It was the "all transactions" that was throwing me off. Now I see it.
Thanks for patiently explaining it all.
