So .. what's up with Nashville?  Any tips, hints, insights, or etc?

Thanks, and apologies in advance if this rubs anyone the wrong way.

If you are in town May 14, our meeting topic is about job hunting and
getting past the employment gate keeper. Our buddy Cynthia Langseth of
Alltech Inc. is leading the discussion. Bring your resume and we'll
link you up :)

Seriously, Cynthia has some openings so you'll want to make the
connection either way.

Most Tech jobs are either in Nashville proper or down south via the
I65 corridor Franklin area seems to be currently tech popular.
Living further from there typically means you will have additional
commute distance.

I don't live near there, so jobs without an hours commute are hard to find.

Franklin is a wonderful little bubble. Love the 5 min commute, but the picket fences are a bit much. Some planner somewhere needs to stop watching leave it to Beaver

I used to live in Nashville, and while Franklin is nice, Brentwood is the place to be if you're rich and want a McMansion (what my dad calls those things... lol)

I prefer the atmosphere of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County, but that's just me... :]

Hope you enjoy that fine city! Also check out the annual PhreakNIC conference every October, and Nashville 2600.

Phreaknic is normally in late October or early November, but this year it will be Sept. 20 - 22. It will be at the same Murfreesboro hotel as it was last year.

Brian, ...

Our regular meeting is on the Second Tuesday of each month. All
meetings are open, and you are welcome to attend.

Most often afterwards we go for a pizza and a beverage at a local
establishment a mile or so away, everyone is welcome there as we solve
all the worlds issues. :)

We look forward to meeting you face to face.

Nashville area and Tennessee is a super place to live!
Besides NLUG check out other user groups if you happen to be a developer. The user group scene in Nashville totally reflects the boom cited in the articles. You can select from Java, .NET, PHP, Ruby, Functional Programming Agile development user groups for example to name some of them.

Maybe this is still not off topic:
Besides that Tennessee is a beautiful place, 50+ state parks. When I lived there I managed to visit 25+ of the, all of them marvellous. Great Smoky Mountains is close too. Surrounding states are in drive distances, worth to visit and easy to drive to (example: GA, AL, NC, KY, etc., you drive down straight south 8 hours and you can enjoy Florida ocean whit crystal white sand (Destin Beach area) for cheap prices (compared to Miami or other up-scale popular destinations)). The food in Nashville is also world class, you can find any kind of cousine in any price range.
Basically you have everything you need.
