With reference to my message to the group November 7th informing you
that Norwegian radio amateurs now are permitted to operate A1A (CW) in
the band 493 510 kHz, please find below some additional information.
The new regulations came into force November 5th, and are expected to be
valid until WRC 2012. What will happen after that, we do not know, but
we may hope that the experience gained will demonstrate that we as radio
amateurs and former R/Os are responsible, and sufficiently qualified to
take care of the immaterial cultural heritage, the former distress and
calling frequency 500 kHz. We shall not let the memory of the service
which took place here die away in silence, but keep it alive as long as
we know how Morse code sounds. Please help us all meet this goal.
The formal operating procedure set by the Norwegian P&T is simple. CW
only, max output power 100 W.
NRRL (Norwegian Radio Relay League) has stated that 500 kHz is a calling
frequency only, and IARU will probably confirm the same.
On behalf of the initiative taken by Norwegian amateurs and former R/Os
we ask your cooperation and support for operation in this band as follows:
Use 500 kHz as a calling frequency and for short urgent messages and
emergency messages ONLY. When calling CQ on 500 kHz give QSW/QSX and
QSY to establish contact.
All other traffic shall take place on working frequencies in the band
493 510 kHz. As an alternative, use cross band.
Radio beacons for propagation studies should be assigned special
frequencies within this band. This should be the responsibility of IARU.
To protect 500 kHz as a live cultural heritage, it is of significance
that the procedures used when operating on this frequency is laid close
to the procedures formerly established her. This includes maintaining
the silence periods on 500 kHz between 0015 - 0018 and 0045 0048
passed each hour.

Ik ben heel benieuwd hoe zich dit in Nederland gaat ontwikkelen...
