'Entrepreneur Initiative' Mayor's Topic
At Christ Hospital Luncheon on Saturday

Mayor Bret Schundler will stress the importance
of entrepreneur initiative in community life in
a luncheon address at 11 a.m.Saturday, March 13,
sponsored by the Hudson County Coalition of
Non-Profit Organizations and held in the Christ Hospital
Medical Staff Room, 176 Palisade Ave., Jersey City.
In Jersey City, the Hudson County Coalition of
Non-Profit Organizations administers the Pew Civic
Entrepreneur Initiative, a special project of the Pew
Charitable Trusts, an international philanthropy based
in Philadelphia, which sponsors local leadership training programs.
Civic entrepreneurs are citizens who, through their
involvement in their neighborhoods, local organizations,
businesses, or local governments, have shown creativity,
risk-taking, and vision about the work of their community.
Mayor Schundler will cite examples of how entrepreneurs have
made valuable contributions toward Jersey City's growth.
"I welcome the opportunity to meet with these men and women and
share with them my ideas about the important role entrepreneurs
play in the economic and physical vitality of a community,"
Mayor Schundler said. "I give these people all the ecouragement
and support possible," he added. The mayor will answer questions
after his address.
Dr. Roseann Mirabella of Seton Hall University's Non-Profit Sector
Resource Center will open the morning session at 9 a.m. with the topic
"Facilitation Skills." The afternoon session, beginning at 1:30 p.m.,
will include project research reports, with all trainee teams
reporting,
and at 3:30 p.m..administrative items in local Pew programs will
be discussed. Joanne Gucciardo is the PCEI program manager.
